Citilabs news

Citilabs recognizes that today’s educators have limited resources and little time to update their courses on a regular basis. To help them in their teaching of travel forecasting and transportation planning, Citilabs is making available full copies of Cube Voyager free of charge.

These copies may only be used in the teaching of university level courses and cannot be used for consulting or research. Consulting and research versions are also available but a fee is charged.

Several major universities currently use Citilabs products in their courses. We are encouraging all education partners to exchange teaching materials and have developed a new section in the Citilabs User Group page for this purpose.

If your university would like to participate in the Citilabs Educational License Program, please contact Ken Vaughn, Director of Training and User Support at Citilabs.

What is Cube?

Cube is a complete transportation planning system providing:

• Application modules for passenger travel demand forecasting, commodity-based freight forecasting, multimodal microsimulation, public transit analysis, site location, and land management, and

• Mapping, visualization, and analysis tools designed for transportation applications

Cube works with ArcView 8, the world standard in GIS systems, to provide an integrated transportation planning GIS system allowing data resources and results from Cube to be easily shared and leveraged throughout the planning agency.

Cube provides exceptional and easy-to-use methodologies for the planning and simulation of all aspects and all modes of the transportation system and is ideal for building transportation information and decision support systems as the transportation planning component in a planning agency using ESRI GIS systems. Cube runs on readily-available hardware under Microsoft Windows 98, Me, NT, 2000, and XP and embraces all desktop computing standards.

Cube provides unmatched tools for model application, model development, data editing and viewing, scenario development and comparison.

Users of Cube combine Cube Base, the system interface, with one or more Cube extensions.  These extensions include:

Cube Voyager: for personal travel forecasting
Cube Cargo: providing advanced methodologies for commodity-based freight forecasting
Cube Analyst: statistically robust methodologies for estimating trip matrices from counts and other observations
Cube Dynasim: for detailed multimodal microsimulation
Cube Polar: for calculation air quality emissions and energy consumption

Cube also runs all models built in TP+, TRIPS and TRANPLAN and provides direct access to standard Microsoft office tools such as Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access.

Models currently built in TP+, TRIPS and TRANPLAN may be mixed within Cube with the capabilities of Cube extensions allowing the user to make a quick and stable transition.

Demonstration versions of Cube Base, Cube Voyager, Cube Cargo, Cube ME, TP+ and TRIPS are provided on the CD.
